Offseason November/December 2025

After a successful September and October our team was ready to go for the 2025 STEMley Cup Championship on November 2, 2025.

Team 8089 was Rank 23 with a record of 4-6-0 at the Overtime Sunday STEMley Cup Championship. We competed in the playoffs as the 2nd Pick of Alliance 2 and were eliminated in the Double Elimination Bracket (Round 5).

Since the majority of our team is made up of new students, this event was the first FRC competition experience for many of us. Throughout the competition, team members had the opportunity to step into a variety of roles, including Drive Team, Technician, and Human Player. This hands on exposure allowed everyone to better understand how each role contributes to overall team performance.

It also served as an informal audition process, giving interested students a chance to explore different responsibilities, build confidence, and identify where their skills and interests best fit for future competitions.

Immediately following our first competition using a swerve drive base, our team participated in a recruitment event for our school called Discover Rockway. This is an annual event at Rockway Mennonite Collegiate in Kitchener, Ontario, designed for families to learn about the school’s Grade 7-12 programs and community. Held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, the evening started with arrival and registration, followed by introductions from the principal, a current student and a parent, and a performance by the senior choir. Afterward guests explored the campus at a Discovery Fair with refreshments, engage with teachers, students and parents, take guided tours if they like, ask questions, and try hands-on activities to get a feel for what Rockway offers. The goal is to help prospective students and their families “discover” whether the school is a good fit for them.

We plan to spent the rest of December thinking about what the 2026 Rebuilt game could be and reviewing old games to prepare ourselves. Our next major event will be the 2026 Kickoff Event at Woodland Christian High School organized by Waterloo Wellington FIRST.

We are getting excited for the upcoming season.
